North-West region – Anglophone crisis: Saint Augustine College of Kumbo finally closed down
The announcement was made on Sunday the 17, February 2019 by the Diocese of Kumbo after the release of students kidnap.
An urgent message was sent to the parents of the students to quickly collect their children from the school premises, according to a statement from the Diocese, unidentified gunmen kidnapped 176 people from school Monday morning and released them only on Sunday after noon.
Since the beginning of the Anglophone crisis many schools in the two regions have been closed as teachers and students have also been the target. On Monday 7, February a student was killed in Buéa. Last week, it was the convoy of the governor of the South-West region, Bernard Okalia Biliai that was attacked; the level of insecurity is too high.
