Reward: Tubah council mayor crowned for excellence

Mayor Tanjong Martin has received recognition of his development strides in the municipality.

The award to the mayor of the Tubah council in the Tubah Sub Division, Mezam Division of the North West region as “Mayor of the Year” celebrates the numerous developmental projects in the municipality. Roads have been opened and maintained in the municipality, infrastructural developments enhanced, the fight against corruption intensified and the effective management of the council area assured.

The Mayor of Tubah Council, Tanjong Martin was equally celebrated for maintaining and preserving peaceful coexistence among the villages in the municipality for the past three years which to the organizers have not been easy given the present socio political situation in the country.

The recognition award to the Mayor was presented during a grand ceremony organized in the North West region on June 09, 2018 and placed under the auspices of the governor of the region, Adolphe Lele L’Afrique.

The organizer of the event, publisher of the Lifetime Newspaper Magazine, Tim Finnian noted that the awards celebrate outstanding achievements with a direct impact on the community and the lives of other people.

Speaking on behalf of the jury, Jeff Ngawe, President of the jury explained that all nominees were observed for a period of three years with attention to their social, political and economic activities.

Other Mayors recognized in the same category were Mayor Jaff Romanus of Jakiri, and Mayor Bunyui Emmanuel of Ndu

Double recognition of the mayor

Besides the recognition of Mayor Tanjong Martin as “Mayor of the year” by the Lifetime Newspaper Magazine, the award granted him was highly welcomed by a good number of traditional rulers who attended the event.

The Fons of the North West region present at the event did not hesitate to celebrate him with a decoration as an uncommon achiever and as he symbolizes the sharp agent of change he has been in the municipality. He was encourages to do more for the council area.

Talking to the press after the double recognition, Mayor Tanjong Martin expressed his elatedness with the recognition from the Lifetime Newspaper Magazine and the coronation from the North West Fons. He says he holds the award dear for he is a front line fighter for development, and the fight against climate change by putting stringent measures in place for nature protection, tree planting and recycling.

According to the Mayor, the award is a motivation to do more in achieving his vision, that of turning Tubah into a modern municipality. A vision he actually promised to see come to pass in the near future.

The Fon of Bambui hosting the council offices, the Fons of Bafanji, Guzang, Chomba, Nsongwa, Bambili and a representative from the Fon of Nkwen all answered present at the event that also saw the recognition of other nation builders.
