Limbe III Council, Pioneer Mayor is dead
Mayor Ekuka Samuel Mokake was central committee member of the ruling CPDM party
The first ever mayor of the Limbe II council in Fako Division of the South West Region of Cameroon has died. Mayor Samuel Mokake died over the weekend from an illness which he has been fighting with for a while now.
The death of the Mayor is considered as a blow to the ruling Cameroon Peoples democratic Movement, CPDM party as he was member of the central committee and at a time when the party is preparing for upcoming parliamentary, municipal and presidential election.
Mayor Ekuka Samuel Mokake was elected into office following the July 22 municipal election of 2007 as the pioneer Mayor of the newly created council.
He reigned at the helm of the municipality for five (5) years before being replaced during the 2013 council elections by his first deputy Mayor, Isaac Inongo Dalle who died just after serving the municipality for one year, which was in 2014 precisely on July 03rd.
After quitting the Mayor Ship title in 2013, Ekuka Samuel Mokake attempted to stage a comeback and replace late Mayor Isaac Dalle in September 2014 but failed in the election that was won by Barrister Nseke Luma, the Mayor of the Limbe III Council.
Late Mayor Ekuka cried fowl criticizing the vote procedure but the CPDM had instructed that Barister Nseke be voted in as next Mayor.
Since then he has been militating in the ruling party as member of the central committee before death took him away. He would be remembered as the Mayor who gave life to the Limbe III Council and who will not hesitate to close down any shop or bar alleged to provoke public disorder in the town.
The Limbe III Council was created by presidential decree No 115/2007 of 13th April 2007 at the wake of the municipal elections and at a time when the then Limbe Council was split into three. Its headquarters is in the historic town of Bimbia. The council was created with a number of 25 councilors and 05 senior councilors.
The Limbe III council is bordered to the East and North by the Tiko Council, to the West by the Limbe I Council and to the South by the Atlantic Ocean
